*The Specifics

This warm, creative, and child-centered family is seeking a long-term nanny/family assistant to become an important part of their daily rhythm and support their growing household. They have a toddler and an infant, with Mom returning to work mid August, at which point the schedule will typically be Monday through Friday from 6:30pm to 4:00pm. The family would love to begin building the relationship earlier if possible, with an earliest start date in late May after doula coverage ends. During the summer months, they are flexible and open to guaranteeing up to 40 hours per week while also accommodating candidates seeking closer to 20 hours.

This role is a blend of nanny and family assistant responsibilities, with the primary focus always being the children. The ideal candidate is warm, patient, organized, and proactive, someone who naturally notices what needs to be done and enjoys contributing to the overall flow of the household. Because Dad stays home during the day and works evenings, there will be times where the nanny and Dad work collaboratively to divide responsibilities and support the children together.

The family values a positive, evidence-informed approach to childcare and behavior. They appreciate caregivers who connect through child-led play, positive reinforcement, descriptive narration, and gentle redirection. The ideal nanny will be comfortable using routines, transition warnings, simple choices, and calm communication to help children feel secure and supported. Experience with potty training is important, including the ability to approach it in a calm, low-pressure, and encouraging way.

Their home is highly creative and musical, and they would love a nanny who embraces that playful energy. Mom is a choir teacher and music is deeply woven into their daily life, from singing songs during routines to creating playful musical moments throughout the day. Their toddler especially loves dancing, imaginative play, crafts, helping with household tasks, and spending time outdoors. Someone artistic, playful, and expressive would thrive in this environment.

The family keeps screen time extremely limited and instead prioritizes reading, sensory activities, creative play, outdoor adventures, and community experiences such as library story times, parks, the zoo, COSI, and local events. Montessori-aligned values such as independence, curiosity, and hands-on learning are very important to them. Their toddler will also begin Montessori preschool in September.

In addition to childcare, responsibilities will include children’s laundry, light housekeeping, dishes, changing sheets, paced bottle feeding for the baby, preparing snacks and simple meals, grocery shopping, errands, and helping maintain an organized household. Their ideal candidate is motivated, proactive, and intuitive—someone who notices what needs to be done and takes initiative so the family can spend more quality time together in the evenings.

The family describes themselves as warm, thoughtful, playful, curious, down-to-earth, loving, and intentional. They value open communication, collaboration, and flexibility, and are looking for someone who can become a trusted and consistent presence in their children’s lives. They also have two friendly cats, so comfort with pets is important.

Most of all, they are hoping to find a nanny who is kind, reliable, communicative, and excited to become part of a loving family that deeply values creativity, emotional connection, and respectful, developmentally appropriate care.
